Solved: 02#Aironet 1600 (AIR-CAP1602i) & 3850 WLC (WS-C3850-24T-L)

Hi Friends

Finally join and register 1602i (AIR-CAP1602i-E-k9) to 3850 (WS-C3850-24T) WLC

Now connect registered 1602i to WS-C2960-24PC-L that C2960 & C3850 trunk together, but again the 1602i not join ! (log below)

When Connect access port of two devices (C2960 & C3850) together and 1602i connect to another access port of C2960, 1602i join & registered !

Really can't use Aps in another branch far from C3850 WLC ?!

Hi,

Yes, APs must be directly connected to the 3850 for it to work in MA or MC mode.Now better to use 3850 switch only for wired network and better to buy 5500 series WLC then you can use Hreap/flex-connect to connect several branch.

Won't work. The AP has to be DIRECTLY-CONNECTED to the 3850 switch.

Hi,

Yes, APs must be directly connected to the 3850 for it to work in MA or MC mode.Now better to use 3850 switch only for wired network and better to buy 5500 series WLC then you can use Hreap/flex-connect to connect several branch.

I Wanted to install APs in different site and install WLC in ISP.

What are devices (APs & WLC) have to buy that has useful for expansion?

I have Several campuses that connect to ISP whit Fiber or P2P Wireless & must install AP's in these campuses for students an master's. My Switches C2960 series and most of them have not 802.1Q ...

Air CAP 1602i will work as remote AP in flexconnect.

Yes you can install WLC(Cisco Flex 8500 and 7500, Cisco 5500, 4400, and 2500 Series Controllers) on HQ site.

1. For flexconnect you must have a WAN connection from HQ to remote site(I think you have it).

2. Then you can connect AP at remote site and WLC ate main site.
