Hello,

1231G AP boots fine in lab with power injector to several lab switches.  AP then is sent to branch location with same type of power injector, not the one that was used in the lab though and when AP is powered up, 3 amber lights show up, port shows down/down.  Cannot get this working though power injector.  If AP is powered by power brick, then connected to switch, all is fine.

Powr injector is AIR-PWRINJ=

Switch is 3560 48TS

Is the 1231 configured as a LWAP or autonomous?  What are the ports configured as?

Hello,

AP is autonomous.  This is the second AP and second power injector sent.  3560 port is set to auto/auto, switchport mode access, spanning tree portfast.

AP is autonomous.

switchport mode access,

Should be dot1q trunk.

Hello,

Network is flat, Only one ssid and vlan.  AP is not set to trunk.

3 amber lights doesn't sound good.  Maybe it's gone into ROMmon.

Sounds like you didnt enter the mac address of the port w/ the PoE command.

Leo -- whats that command again?

It's fine George because the switch is a 3560.

hummm so the mac isnt required with a 3560?

You only need that command when you're dealing with 2940/2950/2955, 2900/3500 switches.

Each time an  access point is relocated, the MAC address of the new switch port will  fail to match the remembered MAC address, and the access point will  remain in low-power mode. You must then physically verify the existence  of a power injector and reselect this option to cause the new MAC  address to be remembered.

You might need this command if your radio operational status is "Down" when you expect it to be "Up." Enter the show msglog command to look for this error message, which indicates a PoE problem:
