1532 UNI channel availability

Hello all,
I am facing the following issue.
On our wlc, we have only enabled the UNI-I 5ghz channels.
We have recently introduced some new 1532 ap. After joining the controller, i found out that the channel assignment changed to custom for the 1532 aps. In addition, the channels start from: 100 up to 140. The radio 1 flaps and i believe this is because the UNI-II and UNI-II extended are not enabled.
Is there any way to add the UNI-I frequency in the allowed frequencies on the 1532 ?

I don't believe you could do that, because of the following reason.
Radio Configuration
There are two radio configurations for the 1532 AP radio, the 2-GHz MIMO radio and the 5-GHz MIMO radio. The 2-GHz MIMO radio operates in 2.4 GHz ISM band. It supports up to 13 channels. The 5-GHz MIMO radio operates in the UNII-2 band (5.25 – 5.35 GHz), the UNII-2 Extended/ETSI band (5.47 – 5.725 GHz), and the upper ISM band (5.725 – 5.875 GHz). It supports up to 16 channels.

First I would answer to your second question.
As 1530 Series APs are Outdoor APs, whereas U-NII Low (U-NII-1): 5.15-5.25 GHz is to be used indoor only. That is the reason that prevents the 1532 AP from operating under UNII-1.
And for your first question, I'm not really sure about that, but I believe it totally depends on the device and what does it used for. If the device is meant to be used outdoors, the vendors must be capable of connecting the UNII-2 and upward channels.
Further more, the flexibility of supporting dual bands allows customers to use high-gain directional antennas for backhaul on 5 GHz while deploying omnidirectional antennas for access on 2.4 GHz.

Hello Ilyas,
Thanks for your feedback. For me, it doesnt make any sense to prohibit the 1532 from utilizing the Unii-1 channels. The "outdoor" term is quite broad these days and it doesnt necessarily mean that these aps should only serve as mesh or point to point aps. But, i understand that its not up to me or you to change that!
On a more important thing now, i am puzzling to understand why the 1532 is not able to utilize even the U-nii-2 channels. This is the output from the ap 1532:
