hello

i convert 1602i to lightweight but didn't join WLC 5508

the ap has IP and it can ping the wlc

but the WLC cannot ping ap or i can't see the ap join stats

Hi,

error:

Either you Did not set the correct time on WLC ? or MIC certificate of AP is expired.!!

No, It will work with this WLC.

Can you paste the output of this command from AP:

1. Enable debug by using this command: debug capwap console cli

2. sh crypto pki certificates and paste the output here.

example:

AP#debug capwap console cli

AP# sh crypto pki certificates

I have seen this error message before.

Console/Telnet/SSH into the AP and look at the flash for "event.r0" &/or "event.r1".

Open them up and you should see something like this:

Radio stopped due to external code download failed                                      
Number of supported simultaneous BSSID on Dot11Radio0: 16
Carrier Set:  () (-E)

Notice that Carrier Set is a BLANK? This is the cause as to why the APs radio won't join the controller: The controller sees the AP to have an invalid (BLANK = invalid) Regulatory Domain.

The reason why the radios get an invalid Regulatory Domain is because the FW of the radios get corrupted during bootup.

And this is evident the radio(s) firmware got corrupted with the bootup file ("ap_booting.txt", below) by the presence of the following lines:
