We have the Clio 1050(www.clio.com) and the NEC MobilePro 880. Using the Proxim RangeLAN cards(not 802.11b) the battery on these units lasts about 4 hours.
Putting in the Cisco Aironet cards(340 or 350 series) battery is limited to about an hour.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

You should try reducing the transmitter power on the 350 series so it uses less power. Of course, the lower the power, the more access points youll need

What device should I choose so that it is enough for a longer amount of work? I work with Legal Files software.

Go to the aironet Client Utility and go to the Section Edit Properties and then to System Parameters. There you'll find an Section called Power Mode it is default on CAM (Constantly Awake Mode) Try first the Fast PSP (Power Save Mode) and if it not helps the Max PSP. Also you could turn down the transmitt Power, but remember the client then needs a closer distance to the AP.
