5 Ghz Channel recommendations from cisco for best throughput

Hi Team,

Can anyone let me know which are the best channels on 5Ghz that can be used to provide good throughput and better wireless connectivity as recommended by cisco.

For 5GHz  it offers 23 non-overlapping 20MHz channels.

  • UNII-1
    • 36, 40, 44, 48
  • UNII-2a
    • 52, 56, 60, 64
  • UNII-2c Extended
    • 100, 104, 108, 112, 116, 120, 124, 128, 132, 136, 140, 144
  • UNII-3
    • 149, 153, 157, 161, 165

The best depends on channel utilization. You are also better using non DFS channels if the utilization is low in case there are radar events where your system is located.

Hi Scott, Can you brief it more about the radar scenario. where if there's any radar or airport nearby. which would be the best channel options in 5ghz over 20Mhz

Like Leo mentioned, uni2 and uni2e is DFS and is mandated to avoid radar. So you should look at uni1 and uni3 if you want to avoid this. Search DFS and radar if you want more information. Radar can be anything close even weather radar.

Don't use UNII-2e.
