We have a AIR-WLC2112-K9 with several access points.
Some clients are not able to connect and we can see that they are trying to connect to 802.11b and are in status Probing.
802.11g clients are connecting normally.
Does anyone have an idea what can be causing this? Not sure if it is important but there is no password set. Clients should connect without password.

Hi kasper,
There was a similar discussion on this issue on another thread before. there may be some steps you can look into to see if this works for you.

As a best practice, you should consider move away from 802.11b on your network. If 802.11b client present in your network that can impact your wireless performance (throughput wise). Here is a document talks about this in detail

I would check what are those client & see if those can be upgraded to 11g at least. Then disable data rates upto 11Mbps in 2.4GHz band.

How can we disable 802.11b? From what I could see in the WLC config b and g go together.
Regards.

If you disable data rates as shown as below, effectively that will disable 802.11b.

Hi Rasika,
Thank you for taking the time to respond.
Even after changing the data rates values as you suggested we still have 802.1b clients in probing status.

You can't prevent 802.11b clients from probing, but you can prevent them from joining your wireless by disabling the 802.11b data rates which Rasika has provided.
