Hello,
I active the Aironet IE (+ Advertise AP Name) on a Wlan on wlc9800 for tests/debug with Ekahau.
All i working fine, but i have 2 questions:
- Is this modification impact connected clients?
- Do you know an Android App that can see the IE?
I try with wifi-analyser, but nothing appears.
BR,
Guy

Cisco list many notes about aironet IE
1- dont use in production network
2- it use only for site survey
3- also it use when you have cisco wgb or cisco ip phone
So from above cisco not recommend at all to enable.

"- Is this modification impact connected clients?"
Unpredictable. You need to test. Some cilents may face problem when IE is enabled. Some clients may not. Cisco usually recommend this fearure enable when the SSID is used to mobile phones.
"- Do you know an Android App that can see the IE?"
I dont know about any APP for that but if the device does not support IE on its wireless adapter, the APP will use useless.

MHM, Marce 1000 and Flavio,
Many thanks for your replies.
I will check if it's necessary to keep it all time or to disable it after tests.

One more link - this is discussed in the Best Practices guide:
https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/controller/9800/technical-reference/c9800-best-practices.html#AironetIE
In 9800 it is turned off by default because Cisco decided it was better OFF in general and only to be enabled when and where specifically required.
