AIR-AP1562E with WLC 5520

Hi Guys

I have some indoor AP's configured and running on with my WLC 5520

now I'm trying to configure my outdoor AP's to the same but it doesn't seem to work.

WLC ver 8.5.161

AP ver 8.5.140.0

im getting the following when i console to the AP

Did you try setting "capwap ap mode local" on the AP? Some APs default to mesh mode.

Hi guys 

thanks for the support 

I was able to rectify this issue I wasn't aware that for outdoor type AP's 

I need to provide the MAC address of AP on the WLC for authentication

once added the connection was made automatically.

It would be nice if it is visible in the AP's console log so that we know we have to add the MAC address instead of keep on retying to connect.

It’s not just outdoor. Any ap that is in bridge mode requires the MAC address to be added. It always get everyone the first time, it got me until I read the quick startup guide that came with the ap:). I still don’t read them until I run into issues. You just end up learning these things.

Can you please post a link to the document which describes how to register the AP MAC on the 5520?

You can search on the internet “how to add a 1560 to a wlc”. You would have links to many various guides. Here is one which is the install guide for that access point.
