Hello All,

I have an ap model of AIR-AP3802E-B-K9 which cannot join the WLC, I have performed reset on the AP and yet it does not join the controller. It picks an IP address but registering to the WLC is the issue.

I have attached the log from the AP.

Thanks in anticipation!!!

You problem is this:

"Max retransmission count exceeded, going back to DISCOVER mode."

This can be recheability problem. Make sure links is Ok.

Hello Flavio,

Also, Can you share

1. WLC: sh sysinfo;
2. WLC: sh time;

Verify

  • Country Code is accurate
  • NTP is configured

Put the AP on the same VLAN as WLC and check

The -B AP variant is a bit newer than the -A variant, both are for Americas (I think North America only). So which software release is running on the WLC?

Hello Patoberli,

The WLC runs software version 8.5.140.0.

Unstable WAN link switching between primary and backup routers maybe, or duplicate IP configured?

Hello rrudling,

The WAN link is stable, More than 3 Access points have registered with the controller since then. I don't think it's a WAN link issue.

Thanks

What is the Controller model?

Did you set the dhcp option 43 correctly with the WLC IP?
