Hi expert guys, can you help me on my issue:

I have tried running autonomous firmware on some AIR-CAP3702I-E-K9:

- ap3g2-k9w7-tar.152-4.JB6.tar

- ap3g2-k9w7-tar.153-3.JPN.tar

- ap3g2-k9w7-tar.153-3.JPN1

All of these firmwares I got issue with radio interface, for ex, I am using ap3g2-k9w7-tar.152-4.JB6.tar on an AP:

md2ty9yc#sh ip inter brief
Interface IP-Address OK? Method Status Protocol
BVI1 10.10.10.10 YES DHCP up up
Dot11Radio0 unassigned YES unset up down
Dot11Radio1 unassigned YES unset up down
GigabitEthernet0 unassigned YES unset up up

The Protocol is down

Boot up progress:

ap: set BOOT flash://ap3g2-k9w7-mx.152-4.JB6/ap3g2-k9w7-mx.152-4.JB6

Hic, I can fix this issue by copy all bin files from flash://ap3g2-k9w7-mx.152-4.JB6 to flash:

That is a stupid way

But I got another issue, will discuss in a new thread.

More than likely you have the boot variable set incorrectly and that's why it can't find them.

Do not use // in your path to the IOS.  It should look like flash:/ap3g2-k9w7-mx.153-3.JPN/ap3g2-k9w7-mx.153-3.JPN

After the router has booted "show boot" to check what the boot variable is set to.  Then
conf t
boot sys flash:/ap3g2-k9w7-mx.153-3.JPN/ap3g2-k9w7-mx.153-3.JPN
end
wr
then "show boot" should show the correct values.
The firmware does NOT need to be in flash root when the boot variable is set correctly.

The missing files are the radio firmware.  The radios cannot start without firmware.

Your flash is corrupted - you need to fix that before anything else:
https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/wireless-mobility/wireless-lan-wlan/213317-understanding-various-ap-ios-flash-corru.html
https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/field-notices/703/fn70330.html
https://developer.cisco.com/docs/wireless-troubleshooting-tools/#!ios-flash-monitoring

How do you install the tar file? Presume you know to use "archive download-sw /overwrite /force-reload tftp://<server-ip>/ap3g2-k9w7-tar.153-3.JPN.tar"

I reset AP and use these commands in ROMON mode:

dir flash://
delete flash:private-multiple-fs
set IP_ADDR 10.10.149.20
set NETMASK 255.255.255.0
set DEFAULT_ROUTER 10.10.149.1
tftp_init
flash_init

tar -xtract tftp://10.10.149.139/ap3g2-k9w7-tar.153-3.JPN.tar flash:

set BOOT flash://ap3g2-k9w7-mx.153-3.JPN/ap3g2-k9w7-mx.153-3.JPN
boot

My AP is not missing radio files, it just locate in directory flash://ap3g2-k9w7-mx.153-3.JPN while boot up process only try to lookup in flash: (Crazy)

More than likely you have the boot variable set incorrectly and that's why it can't find them.

Do not use // in your path to the IOS.  It should look like flash:/ap3g2-k9w7-mx.153-3.JPN/ap3g2-k9w7-mx.153-3.JPN

After the router has booted "show boot" to check what the boot variable is set to.  Then
conf t
boot sys flash:/ap3g2-k9w7-mx.153-3.JPN/ap3g2-k9w7-mx.153-3.JPN
end
wr
then "show boot" should show the correct values.
The firmware does NOT need to be in flash root when the boot variable is set correctly.

You are right, I got mistake with the boot variable

boot sys flash:/ap3g2-k9w7-mx.153-3.JPN/ap3g2-k9w7-mx.153-3.JPN   ==> It works now

Many thanks to Rich

Good.

FYI: if you install the software using the "archive download-sw" command then the boot variable gets set automatically for you.
