You can if you have support and can download the software image. Use the WLC matrix link that was posted to see what AP model supports what code. This will help you in the future.

Take a look at the matrix and you can see what code supports the 1602 under Mobility Express.

The 1602s will run under the 1852 in ME mode, dependent on the version of code being use.

Looks like the last version that was supported was 8.4.100.0

Under table 11 on this site is where i found this: https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/compatibility/matrix/compatibility-matrix.html#pgfId-393660

I have 15.2.2 version on 1602, so i have ti upgrade to 15.3 lightweight or autonomous version? after the upgrade the ap will be connected via mobilty express with the 1852 ?

That AP needs lightweight image of 15.3.(3)JE minimum and the WLC has to be 8.4.100.0 or prior.

so I have to buy a controller hardware or just use moblity express solution on my 1852?

Thanks for previous answer

You don’t have to buy a controller. If you look at the matrix for mobility express, you will see what model aps are supported as ME co trollers and what other model aps can join these ME controllers. Personally, I like having the appliance because of the features and less of a headache. The 3504 is the small version that can support up to 150 AP’s. You can look for a used 2504 if you want to find something cheaper.

No wont need to buy a controller or other hardware, just make sure the WLC version running on the ME AP supports the AP models you need/ want to support

so just pass this firmware ap1g2-k9w8-tar.153-3.JF.tar via web gui (http upgrade) and wait for mobility express to detect the ap ?

I can proceed with the upgrade!

I have a problem, mobility express sees the ap 1602 but does not join him and in the logs I find this error
%CONFIGSYNC-3-CONFIG_SYNC_SEM_REL_FAIL:.

%CAPWAP-3-DTLS_CLOSED_ERR: capwap_ac_sm.c:7076.
I have mobility express 8.5.131.0 (1852) and the subordinate ap has 15.5.3JF, if I have not read wrong it should be in the matrix

Help me!

I can return to autonomous ap ? i don't have access to cli with telnet/ssh!
