Aironet 340 PCMCIA adapter not associate with AP1200

Help please!!!

Recently we acquired some AP1200s running 12.2(13)JA4. Our 340 PCMCIA adapters (XP fireware 5.30.17, ACU 6.2) simply can not associate with these APs.

The symptoms are: No signal strength, no noice level detected at ACU even though the PC and the AP are nearly back to back. However, the PCs sense the correct SSID and attempt the association, but fail the authentication. We notice from the ACU the increasing counters for "authentication rejected" and "PLCP CRC errors", but "beacon received" is a very small number.

Some other information:

1. These 340 adapters were working with the old AP340.

2. Some other band of adapters with 11g/11b can work with both AP340 and AP1200.

Sometimes the configuration can hang or get stuck. Reset the client adapter and the AP back to the factory settings and see if they will associate. Sounds like there may be an authentication configuration problem.
