Antenna gain of a 3502AGN AP

Hello

I recently checked the output of one of my AP 3502AGN which are connected to a WiSM with the current 7.0.240.0 software.

There I saw the following output:

show ap config 802.11b 3502AGN-1100c-1

      Legacy Tx Beamforming ..................... ENABLED

      Antenna Type............................... INTERNAL_ANTENNA

Internal Antenna Gain (in .5 dBi units).... 8

      Diversity.................................. DIVERSITY_ENABLED

      802.11n Antennas

         A....................................... ENABLED

         B....................................... ENABLED

         C....................................... ENABLED

As you can see the antenna gain is set to 8 for the internal antenna. The Data Sheet tells me it should be 4 dBi for the 802.11b band:

Is that a bug of the current firmware?

I have the feeling that the signal coverage isn't anymore as good as it once was, but that can also just be my imagination.

Maybe somebody can shed some light onto this.

Thanks

Patrick

No.  Did you see it states "in 0.5 dBi units"?  So this means you need to multiply by 0.5.

Ah that's what that means

I thought that means that also 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, ... is allowed and not only 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, ...

Ok then everything is clear.
