AP 2702 draws low Power from Ethernet

Hello,

we have just installed a new cisco wireless infrastructure. And actually it works fine. But our Prime (V2.2) is showing the following critical error for most of our Accesspoints, not for all:

Access point 'OV-B-BM1-AP-03' associated with controller
'OV-B-V05-WLC-1' draws low power from Ethernet. Failure reason: 'The
AP draws 15.4 watts from Ethernet'.

We have 2702 APs connected to a WLC 5508 (v8.0.120.0) and most of the switches are WS-C2960+24PC-L with 12.2(50)SE5, 12.2(55)SE7 and 15.0(2)SE6. Some of the APs are connected with Motorola Injectors but they have the same problem.

This is the example of one of the switches:

This is how the ports are configured, nothing special regarding the power.

!
interface FastEthernet0/1
 switchport access vlan 251
 switchport mode access
 spanning-tree portfast

As far as we know, POE+ is actually required, but it works without as well. The only thing is that the Prime Errors are kind of annoying.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance

They need Poe+ for full feature set.  See this blog post for details

Thank you. Good to know where exactly the Prime is getting the message from. I checked that and it looks just like in the example. One Antenna is disabled. But like i said, that`s ok. We dont need full feature set. What I need is a Prime not confusing me with an error for every singe AP. Do you know how i get rid of the messages permamently?

You cannot get rid of it, I think, but you may set the Severity for this Alarm on Informational and it will no longer show in the Alarm Summary.

You could try to go into the AP config on the WLC and check the box for pre-standard power.

Or you coudl disable CDP on the switch ports, but I have never cared for that option.
