AP CW9163E-F Joined WLC 9800 but Operation Status is Down

Hello Masters,

Our customer just brought multiple Access Point CW9163E-F recently, and we have successfully joined them into WLC 9800. But no matter what we do we cannot bring the operation status to UP. We have already change the country id into "ID", and any country but the 5G, 2.4G, operation status is still down.

This is the current status from WLC (using ver.17.12.5) :

#sh ap sum
Number of APs: 1

CC = Country Code
RD = Regulatory Domain

#sh ap profile name default-ap-profile detailed

And this is the error generated from AP Console :

Can anyone guide us what can we do to solve this problem ?

Thank You,

I don't think Indonesia is supported on 9163E in 17.12.x ...
See https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/wireless/catalyst-9100ax-access-points/products-technical-reference-list.html

Provide the output from?

show wireless country channels

So I think you need to upgrade to 17.15.2 - see the release notes:
https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/controller/9800/17-15/release-notes/rn-17-15-9800.html#whats-new-17151

Tier B/C/D Country Support for Cisco Catalyst 9163E Outdoor Access Points

From this release, Cisco Catalyst 9163E Outdoor APs are supported in the following countries: Bosnia, Hong Kong, India,
Indonesia, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Puerto Rico, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, Taiwan, Turkey, and United
Arab Emirates.
For more information, see Countries and Regulations.

   - It looks like the country code used by the AP is not configured on the controller,

Hi Marce,

I have already sett the country ID in two different places,
1. in ap join profile, sett to "ID"

2. In wireless/ap/country

but no luck...

Post the complete output to the command "sh run | include country".

Hi Leo,

#sh run | i country
wireless country ID
country ID
country ID

#sh wireless country configured

Configured Country.......................... ID - Indonesia
Configured Country Codes
ID - Indonesia 802.11a Indoor,Outdoor/ 802.11b Indoor,Outdoor/ 802.11g Indoor,Outdoor/

  - @antonprasetyo   1) Issue the CLI command : wireless config validate
                                 2) Checkout the WLC 9800 controller's configuration using the CLI command :
                                    show tech wireless and feed the output from that into Wireless Config Analyzer
                         Use the full command denoted in green, do not use a simple show tech-support for this procedure.

Hi Rich,

Thank you so much for the document, let me upgrade my wlc first, and hopefully it's as the doc said..

============

Update : It's exactly as you mentioned Rich, thank you so much again and for all who reply my thread.

I've been wondering why cisco send this product using firmware that they know that is not supported in its shipping address area (Indonesia), why cisco, i demand an explanation....

You're welcome <smile>

Unlikely you'll get any reply to that here from Cisco.  I expect the answer is simply that their manufacturing and shipping process does not allow for minor nuances like this.  The ordering tool used to require to select the software version but for these APs it doesn't, so the factory obviously just use the same version on all 9163E.

Well at least this is a big problem for me (and my team), 50 APs, but none of them can't broadcast SSID. I even tried to change the AP mode into "survey mode" just to ensure that i don't make any mistake in the config somehow.

   - @antonprasetyo  : ...but none of them can't broadcast SSID

    Please look into these items which I mentioned :
                        https://community.cisco.com/t5/wireless/ap-cw9163e-f-joined-wlc-9800-but-operation-status-is-down/m-p/5274140/highlight/true#M281868

                             These are major troubleshooting steps!!

Like @marce1000 says this is now likely a config issue so concentrate on that as advised.
Config Analyzer will pick up many common mistakes in your config, and report anything that isn't in line with the best practice guide.

Also note that 6GHz is not currently supported on that AP in Indonesia so you can only use the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands.
