Hello Guys,

I have converted ap 1131 from autonomous to lwapp successfully by using upgrade utility tool but the AP does not join the WLC 2106. I can see it as a neighbor on the switch with no IP address. please help me.

Thank you

The AP needs an IP address. The wlc time has to be set correctly. Place the ap on the same subnet as the wlc a management interface. Management and AP manager needs to be set on the same VLAN/subnet.

Post the output of the AP booting from the console

Well if the AP is remote, how does that ap know about the WLC. You need to read this doc as it explains what you can do to help the AP join the wlc.

So what discovery are you doing?

Sent from Cisco Technical Support iPhone App

lwapp

That is the protocol, what discovery method are you using so that the AP can join the WLC. If you don't use one of the process that was in the link I sent, how does the AP find the wlc? It like me plugging in an AP at home and it trying to find your WLC.

Here is another doc you need to reference. This is also stated in the other document I referenced by a link.

oh ok sorry i am new to wireless world.

I have turn on the OTAP on the WLC.

The APs used to have the Static IP and i have taken care that they remain a static but they dont seems to get an IP for themself. Help me out please.

OTAP will not help you.... do you have console access to the AP?  If so, can you console into the AP and power up the AP and post the output.

Thanks,

Scott
