Hi there,

All leds of my AP turned amber. this means "Boot failure" according to this document: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/wireless/ps430/products_installation_guide_chapter09186a00801cfb52.html

But how can I get through it?

Is it running VxWorks or IOS?

If the AP runs VxWorks, please go to the following URL:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/products/hw/wireless/ps430/products_tech_note09186a008019fea0.shtml

The instruction asks you to send "AP1200-Cisco-IOS-Upgrade-Image-v3.img" in Step 4. If you want to keep VxWorks, you should send a VxWorks image.

If you use IOS, please go to the following URL:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/routers/ps221/products_configuration_guide_chapter09186a008007cd0e.html

Even though the URL for IOS is for 1700, it still works for AP 1200.

Ok I had my problem (3 leds turning to red when powering up the AP) after trying to upgrade VxWorks to IOS.

I looked at the URLs you showed me but the thing is that I can't connect to the AP by console port. It doesn't show anything.

So how can I recover from this failure?

Did the power go off while the upgrade was happening, or did you make sure whether the upgrade was complete. I am afraid if your AP is broken, you might have to do an RMA (this is a possibility).

On the other side, try various speed settings on ur terminal emulator and see if that helps..just a hunch..

If your AP is booting into either VxWorks or IOS, you should be able to use IPSU utility (downloadable from cisco.com) and put the mac address in the software and set an IP address to the BVI interface. Once this is done, you can connect a cable from ethernet port of AP to the PC and access the PC via web interface. The above will work only if your AP is not broken...

Hi,

Please tell what is the version of software you were running on this AP.

There are 4 possibilities:

1) If using POE [Check ethernet cable from switch]

2) If using Power adapter, try swapping it.

3) If you are able to log into the console. Try upgrading using the vx wrks to IOS helper image file.

4) If you can access the console & step 3 does not work try a low level format.

5) If running outta time, get it replaced.

I guess IPSU will not work with this AP. IPSU works only for new AP"s Outta the box as far as my experience says.

Thanks,

Karthik
