Hi,

I have an AP1242 that I am trying to set up but whenever I plug it in, it will go straight to the image recovery (pink status, red radio LED) and display the following:

Xmodem file system is available.

flashfs[0]: 148 files, 7 directories

flashfs[0]: 0 orphaned files, 0 orphaned directories

flashfs[0]: Total bytes: 15998976

flashfs[0]: Bytes used: 5485056

flashfs[0]: Bytes available: 10513920

flashfs[0]: flashfs fsck took 31 seconds.

Base ethernet MAC Address: 00:1d:a1:fd:c5:fa

Initializing ethernet port 0...

Reset ethernet port 0...

Reset done!

ethernet link up, 100 mbps, full-duplex

Ethernet port 0 initialized: link is up

button is pressed, wait for button to be released...

I am not pressing the mode button, and it seems to still be pressable (you can feel the click on the button) so I don't think it is physically stuck in. Does anybody have any ideas?

Cheers,

Aaron

It does look like it's stuck and maybe there is contact causing the AP to think you are pressing the mode button. I guess you can RMA that and get a replacement or you can be bold and take off the cover and check to see if the two points are contacting each other.

Cheers for the fast response Scott!

I did have a look inside and everything seems to be ok, I have included a couple pictures below:

The warranty will be way out on this so if it's not easily fixable it will probably get scrapped.

Cheers,

Aaron

Please don't try this at home kids ...

Take the unit, put the cover on and ... BANG IT a few times.

Trust me, I've seen this before and this is what I've done to two of them.

Another thing, leave it for around 30 seconds and it will boot normally, have you tried that?

NOTE:  It's a 1240.  You won't damage it.  The only thing that will be damage will be the surface you're hitting it on.

ha ha ha Leo... Thank god you dint tell Aaron to bang it on his head!!
