Hello,

My 5508 run 8.5.110 firmware, and the ap1562i-T cannot join it.....

I found one bug id: CSCvf71074 (AP 1562 Failed to decode discovery response)

Have the same log....

But I already upgrade to 8.5.110 (fix firmware), no fix the issue...

Have any idea about it ?

I think this is a bug with the AP's loaded firmware, 8.4.100.0.
Reboot the AP and force the AP to load the secondary image, 8.3.X.X, and see if this works.

Hmmmm ... The AP is still hanging on to 8.4.100.0.
I presume you've tried to reboot the AP, right?
I've never seen this before on a G3 AP but this behaviour is very common with 2700/3700 as this is an bug exclusively on the 2700/3700.
Is this AP deployed as MESH?

HI Leo,

The AP1562 default is MESH mode, and I change it to local mode via console (capwap ap mode local).
In mesh mode, I found the AP network have some trouble, cannot ping success to WLC.
So, I change the mode....

If the APs are in MESH, did you enter the MAC address into Security > AAA > MAC Filtering.

YES, I add it in MAC Filter List~

I think this is a bug with the AP's loaded firmware, 8.4.100.0.
Reboot the AP and force the AP to load the secondary image, 8.3.X.X, and see if this works.

HI Leo,
Excuse me, how to force load the secondary image ? XD

Look around the AP for a Mode button (inside a protective cover) and see if you can hold down the button for 40 seconds.

Hi,

I am having this same issue with Cisco Aironet 1562E running 8.4.100.0 Software and a Cisco virtual WLC running 8.2.141.0 version.

How can I resolve this issue ?

Abdessattar

I believe you would have to update your WLC to atleast 8.3 if you want to use local mode on a 1562.  For Mesh mode you would need a 8.4 or higher update.

Hi bmallette22,
Thank you for the quick reply.
Now I am using 8.5.110.0 for the vWLC but that did not resolve the issue.

Do you have any other AP’s that are joined to your vWLC?

From Console, Press escape until we get u-boot>> prompt on AP, try to boot backup/part 2.
u-boot>> printenv BOOT
u-boot>> setenv BOOT part 2
u-boot>> saveenv
u-boot>> boot

Alternatively, pick a respective ap image and do manual tftp update.
