C1111-4PWE - can Wireless AP be used in standalone mode?

Hi, I'm getting a surplus C1111-4PWE .

Can the embedded WiFi AP be used independently, or will it only work when connected to or controlled by a separate Cisco controller?

You can deploy Mobility express so AP act as Controller and broadcast SSID:
