C9800 SMU APSP

Hi wireless professionals,

quick question regarding AP Service Pack (APSP) installation for a factory default WLC without any APs.

So if I want to preinstall (day 0) the SMU to a WLC, the only thing I have to do is:

- Install SMU to WLC: install add file bootflash:<SMU-FILENAME>

- Commit SMU: install commit

New APs joining the WLC will download the APSP image, right?

Ok - found out, that I need to activate the SMU before commiting as well

You may already know that but for the community members, the new APSP on top of the 17.3.4 is important to avoid some bugs without reinstalling/upgrade the whole image.

Hey Grendizer,

thanks you for the hint. Did that on friday and after the installation the 2800/1562 APs in my lab weren't able to join the WLC anymore. When I deactivated the SMU, the APs worked again. Don't know what's wrong there...

It's hard to tell but didn't hear this problem before with APSP, I tested it in my lab with 3800 APs and they got the image and connected after the APs reload, the APs should report 17.3.4.62 after they receive the image. Are the test APs reporting this image?
