Can't reach the prompt on C9115AXI-E [SOLVED]

Hi,

i will install the EWC module on my brand new C9115AXI-E Access point, because is the only Cisco device in my environement.

First i connect the serial cable from AP command line port to my computer and open Putty.

After i connect the Lan cable from my POE at injector to the power port of AP.

In Puttty i see the startup of AP but there also after some minutes i can access the prompt line.

The AP remains in a loop and don't leave the possibility to do something.

I try many times the factory reset with +20seconds and +30seconds hold the reset button.

Anyone can help me out of trouble?

Hey,

i investigate more and found the issue....i used a console cable with only 4 lines instead 8. So i could see the console but not transmit commands.

With instructions of the correct pinout i soldered a new cable. Now i was able to reach the prompt and install EWC.

I`m very impressed of the many and fast helps i received in this forum.

Thank you for the help!

Hi marce1000,

thank you for the fast reply!

The output from the first post was without connect the AP to DHCP server.

When i connect the AP to a DHCP Server (Asus Router RT-AC88U) the ip address would be assigned.

Below the output when connecting the DHCP.

 - Doesn't sound convincing, you still have not shown us an extract from the DHCP server logs  as to the point where an ip address get's assigned to the AP.

Hi marce1000,

i do a IP reservation on DHCP server.

On my router there is no log of DHCP, only a lease list.

 - Inability to check dhcp-lease-logs, makes it impossible to verify correct operation of the DHCP service, you may find it on the GUI -> System log -> DHCP leases.

I'd say it looks like DHCP is working from the AP logs but the AP is clearly in CAPWAP mode so if you want to run EWC you need to convert the AP to EWC first.

rrudling is right. The best way to tell is if you get a prompt with ‘ap’ then it’s capwap. If it’s an EWC, you would get the startup wizard if not configured or a prompt with ‘ewc’.
