CAPWAP communication between MAP and WLC in Bridge Network

How does the CAPWAP data and control packet between a MAP and Controller is sent in a bridge network (802.11a mesh)? Does the CAPWAP packet is encapsulated in the 802.11a mesh when MAP sends a Packet to RAP and RAP the forwards it to WLC over ethernet inside a CAPWAP tunnel?

Can anyone kindly explain the CAPWAP communication between MAP and a WLC?

Hi,

This is just a matter of underlay e overlay. Capwap is essentially an Overlay network just like VPN or any other tunnel like network.

If you have connectivity working fine on layer 2 and 3, capwap will be a service running on top of it.  Considering Map rely on RAP to send data, then yes, traffic flows like you proposed.
