We are having an issue with certain outdoor Lightweight AP's (Air-CAP1532I-B-K9 model) that are disconnecting from the WLC and reconnecting. We have many that are staying connected, so not really sure the problem with the specific devices that are acting up. The one constant error message that keeps coming up is " DTLS_CLIENT_ERROR:.. Capwap/base_capwap/dtls/base_capwap_dtls_connection_db.c:2214 Max transmission count reached for connection 0x6491E380! Send fatal: Close notify alert to IP address.
AP Mode=bridge, Role=Mesh, AP backhaul 802.11a, static IP
WLC Model is AIR-CT5508-K9,
Sw Version 8.0.133.0
IOS Version 15.3 (3) JA8$
Let me know if you need any other relevant information. Appreciate some thoughts and things to try to resolve this issue.

- @Cap-24 No insights on those from my part; but the 5508 controller software is way too old and cisco recently has removed software downloads for this too old controller too. If it is due to bugs then using the 5508 controller is a dead end with no way forward.

@Mark Elsen - in the GUI of the WLC it says that last AP connection failure - Image data request received from an unsupported AP. Not sure what this means, but doesn't sound good.
What particular SW Version (Firmware) is the latest or recommended for a WLC 5508. Currently we are running Sw Version 8.0.133.0. Is the software version the only thing that requires updated firmware? Thanks.

Your right. We have plenty of these Lightweight Cisco 1532I outdoor AP’s connected that stay connected. There is just a few that seem to disconnect and then they will reconnect again.

- @Cap-24 >.... Is the software version the only thing that requires updated firmware?
It's not the only thing but it is mandatory and you are blocked here because cisco has withdrawn software downloads for the 5508 ; the controller is just too old
