Cisco 1941 cellular card EHWIC-4G-LTE-V firmware upgrade

I have installed the EHWIC-4G-LTE-V in slot 0 of a 1941 router. I am currently running IOS C1900-universalk9-mz.SPA.156-3.M4.bin. When I attempt the firmware upgrade, MC7750_VZW_03.05.10.06_00.cwe, I get a failure right away. When I reload the router the message comes up

%CELLWAN-4-CELLULAR_MODEM_SKU_MISMATCH: Cellular0/0/0: Mismatch detected
between installed modem MC7750[SKU ID 1584083] on NIM SKU type EHWIC-4G-LTE-V. Expected modem
for this SKU is MC7750[SKU ID 9902144]

I downgraded the IOS to c1900-universalk9-mz.SPA.155-3.M7.bin and now the mismatch message is:

%CELLWAN-4-CELLULAR_MODEM_SKU_MISMATCH: Cellular0/0/0: Mismatch detected
between installed modem MC7750[SKU ID 6.15] on NIM SKU type EHWIC-4G-LTE-V. Expected modem
for this SKU is MC7750[SKU ID 9902144]

I attempted the firmware upgrade again and here is the output:

F/W Upgrade: Firmware Upgrade has Completed Successfully

When I run show cellular 0/0/0 hardware though the old firmware is still there:

#sh cell 0/0/0 hard
Modem Firmware Version = SWI9600M_01.00.09.03AP
Modem Firmware built = 2011/07/01 19:31:09
Hardware Version = 20460000
Device Model ID: MC7750
Package Identifier ID: MC7750_01.00.09.03_00_vzw_021.006_001
International Mobile Subscriber Identity (IMSI) = 311480023569665
International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) = 990000820076117
Integrated Circuit Card ID (ICCID) = 89148000000231958993
Mobile Subscriber Integrated Services
Digital Network-Number (MSISDN) = +12012504446
Current Modem Temperature = 0 deg C
PRI SKU ID = 6.15, PRI version = , Carrier = Verizon

I have tried the firmware upgrade several times, even tried rebooting in between attempts with no joy.

Is there some place I can look, or turn debug on, that tells me why the firmware upgrade failed? What is the PRI SKU ID and can it be changed?  Do I have the wrong card?  Everything I read says the card is right and the firmware I am trying to upgrade to is right. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the quick response marce1000  ...And hence this is why the firmware upgrade does not succeed?  I did download from the Sierra Wireless web site, "1584083_999999_MC7750_03.05.10.09_00_vzw_033.011_000_SPKG.cwe" firmware.  I was concerned if I tried to install this upgrade that it would "brick" the card, but from what I see above the card I obtained is worthless to me anyway.  Is that a correct assumption?

     - Besides my initial reply , I must admit that I am not acquainted enough with the particular platform and it's  components to give further dedicated and or correct answers on this.

Thanks M.  I appreciate the location of the System Error Messages Guide.  That will come in very handy.  Anybody else have any further ideas?

I would avoid installing software direct from Sierra - not tested by Cisco and therefore at your own risk ...

Have you tried this https://software.cisco.com/download/home/284772061/type/284285628/release/3.5.10.6? That seems to be the last Cisco supported firmware and refer to https://community.cisco.com/t5/routing/c819-4g-lte-g-4g-connection-don-t-come-up/td-p/2630908/page/2 for more info.

The bug https://bst.cloudapps.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCup24941 you've mentioned on a separate/duplicate post is described as cosmetic so is it working anyway in spite of the logs?

Thanks for the reply.  Looking at the logs from my upgrade attempt, yes I did try to upload the 3.5.10.6 firmware from the Cisco web site and the firmware upgrade failed every time.  Looking at your second link the closest IOS I have to 15.5(3)M2 is 15.5(3)M7 and that yielded the same results.  I ordered another card, 4G-LTE-VZ (as opposed to 4G-LTE-V), and this one generates no error message about mismatched MODEM SKU mismatch.  In addition I am able to get an IP address and am connected to the Verizon network with this card.  As a side note since I had nothing to lose I pushed the 1584083_999999_MC7750_03.05.10.09_00_vzw_033.011_000_SPKG.cwe firmware to the 4G-LTE-V card with success and it now connects to the Verizon network while still producing the MODEM SKU mismatch error.  I am thinking the 4G-LTE-VZ card is a newer card that works with this platform?  I am not sure.

Glad to hear you solved it

VZ (LTE- 2.0) was in fact the replacement for V (LTE 1.0) so that firmware was probably intended for the VZ not the V.

The VZ is also end of sale now https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/interfaces-modules/network-modules/eos-eol-notice-c51-741231.html

I am having the exact same issue as rocknrobin. I just ordered a 4G-LTE-VZ and hope it will also resolve me issue as well. Thanks for the post!
