Cisco AIR-AP4800-B-K9 with WiSM2

Hello guys,

Reading all docs and community here, I'm struggling to find an answer if WiSM2 could work with wirelessaaccess point AIR-AP4800-B-K9?

This document says WiSM2 will work: https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/access_point/4800/quick/guide/ap4800getstart.html

(quote: The maximum number of access points varies for the Cisco WiSM2, depending on which controller software release is being used.)

However, the following documents says opposite (won't work):  https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/wireless/aironet-4800-access-point/nb-09-air-4800-acces-ds-cte.html

Does anyone tried or know for sure if WiSM2 could work with AIR-AP4800-B-K9?

Cheers,

4800 won't work with WiSM2.
4800 is first supported in 8.7.X.X and WiSM2 last firmware support is 8.5.X.X.
Options are to get the new 9800 or turn the 4800 into Mobility Express.
NOTE:

  1. Do NOT consider getting the 5520/8540/3504 because these three models will be EoL soon. The new model taking over the three is the Catalyst 9800 WLC.
  2. The term Mobility Express and Elastix WLC (eWLC) are synonymous.  The new term (eWLC) were created by sales and marketing people for sales and marketing purposes which resulted in confusion to the public.  Job well done.
