Hi,

i recently got a wireless Cisco router AIR-CAP3702I-E-K9 that when launched has its IOS set as hostname instead of router and i cant enter global configuration mode. Like its disabled. Wondering what could be the problem here.

Well that is an access point, not a wireless router.  The ap is lightweight which means it requires a controller to manage it.  If you wanted a stand alone that you can configure, you will need to re-image that with autonomous image.  You have to have a support contract to download software, but instructions on how to convert can be found on the forum or on the internet.  Search for "lightweight to autonomous conversion".
