Hello guys!

I have client that has a UniFi LR device, he ask us to design a wired-wireless solution to expand his network, for now he has this:

      His LAN---Unifi LR (ubicuiti) device,

And he wants to expand his netowrk using this way:

wired link                        Wireless Link                        wired link

LAN------------------UnifiLR==================Cisco AP?------------------Switch (just 8 wired users)

distance between 2 wireless devices is aprox 15meters

First Question: Is UnifiLR device able to act as a Repiter/Bride using Cisco AP? or just APS Cisco works with his similars?

Second Question: In case of not, What Cisco complete solution could solve the requirement?

3rd Q: any design guide, tips, considerations or literature for the possible implementation?

4rd: What level of performance (poor/regular/good) is comonly in this kind of implementations for wired clients?

Stick to the same manufacturer.  Don't mix them, particularly when dealing with wireless bridges.

Hi Leo

Then.. what is the pourpouse of the Standars?...

Purpose of the Standards?  Standards are like laws of the land.  You can abide by them or not.  It's your call.

Same thing with wireless Standards.  Some companies follow and some just don't.

Solution:

You should use the AP from the same manufacture for your current  deployment and in you current deployment i would recommend that you use a  cable setup rather then following the wireless  solution as the  distance is not far.

Following are the required answers to the query
1.Always use the same vendor equipment to act as Repiter/Bridge
2.Cisco 1600/2600/3600 series AP is an optimal solution
3.It  is recommended that you use 3600 AP (but is depends upon the type of  application used by clients and number of users). Also you did not  specify the devices models so that a suggestion about the network desgn  can be provides and link usage of the clients.
4.well the newer AP  have better through put and upcumming standared such as 802.1 ac is  slowing becoming the replacement for the wired so the quality will  depends on the data usage.
