Hi Guys,

I need some information from the experts here, i am in a process of installing the Cisco MSE but when i go to the down load i see the new release 10.x.x named CMX. I need to understand that is the new model re-branded with this name of CMX or should I download the release 8.x.x which is named MSE.

Regards,

Faisal

CMX is as you say, MSE re-branded. The Release Notes say no inline upgrade is available however as you are (I think) doing a fresh install you should be fine. You can install either but if you do install MSE note that a migration later on will be more arduous.

Are you planing to integrate CMX 10.2 with Prime 3.0?

If so, go for MSE 8.0 because PI 3.0 doesn't interact with CMX 10.2.
Apparently, only PI 3.1 works with CMX

Cheers,
Vasco

Hi Vasco,

Thanks for your reply yes the final picture is to integrate CMX with Prime3.0 which is also a fresh installation. So am I going to loose any functionality if i go for CMX 10.2 rather than MSE8.0. (It's going to be a VM setup).

Hi Mohanak

the release notes of CMX 10.2.2 now reports this:

  • Cisco Prime Infrastructure integration, specifically the ability to see WiFi clients and other devices and Cisco CleanAir information in Prime.

What does cisco means by this? i am able to integrate prime infra 3.1 to cmx (it imports the maps and APs and thats that) and i can see the clients moving on cmx, probably because it gets info from the WLC.

so what does that bullet point means?
