Cisco vWLC N+1 High Availibility Country Codes

Hi,

I have the following two setups:

Setup 1:

1 vWLC in US with all AIR-AP2802E-B-K9 model APs

1 vWLC in Mexico with a mix of AIR-AP2802E-B-K9 and AIR-AP2802E-A-K9 model APs

Both controllers should be the backup for each other (N+1 setup)

Setup 2:

1 vWLC in Belgium with all AIR-AP2802E-E-K9 model APs

1 vWLC in Romania with all AIR-AP2802E-E-K9 model APs

Both controllers should be the backup for each other (N+1 setup)

What country code should I configure on each WLC? Only the country where the WLC resides, or a mix of both countries?

When only configuring the country where the WLC resides, what happens during a failover scenario? Do the APs take the country code and regulations of the new WLC or does the old country code remain active? Any caveats?

Thanks in advance!

You can configure multiple country codes in the WLC up to 20 or 110 depending on the version, if it is 9800 it's even higher. Make sure that both N+1 controllers are configured with the same country codes and also in the same order.

Once done you can go to Wireless==>All AP's==> Select the AP==> Advanced and then set the country code at per AP level.

Remember you need to shut down both 2.4 and 5 radios globally on the WLC to change the country codes.
