Hello all,

My client has two cisco Aironet 1131 access points and he wants to buy a wifi controller in order to control access specially for guest users.

For this case, i suggested to buy the cisco 2500 series wifi controller (the model witch supports up to 5 access points).

My questions now is the following:

The suggested wifi controller does supports all models of cisco access points even new ones?

Thank you for your help and your rapid response.

Support of access points is not based on hardware, its based on the software version it supports, 1130 series supports upto 8.0.121.0.

Access Points
First Cisco Wireless Release Support
Last Cisco Wireless Release Support

AIR-LAP1131

3.1.59.24

8.0.x

for more information check the compatibility document : http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/compatibility/matrix/compatibility-matrix.html#56735

It's the software versions that determine which APs are supported, not the controller. If you look at the release notes you'll see a section detailing the AP models supported, for example in 8.0.120.0 (http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/controller/release/notes/crn80mr2.html) the 1130 series APs are supported.

Hello,

Thank you all for your responses. I have also one other question: there is no problem to get a wifi controller for only two access points ? because the client will get first the controller for the two that exist and then he will get new ones

thanks

There's no problem with that as long as you don't exceed the 50 AP limit on the controller. You also have the option of having redundancy for these APs with a second controller (AIR-CT2504-HA-K9).

Martin,

The 2504 can support up to 75 access points.  It use to be 50 a while back, just can't remember when they changed that.
