When 7.5 gets released... Not long now!

Sent from Cisco Technical Support iPad App

How does the AIR-CT2504-HA-K9 work with regards of licensing.

Say I have another AIR-CT2540-50 AP as a primary controller.

I know it is a N+1 not a hot standby. But I wonder how it works if I later add 5 AP licenses

to my Primary controller. How does the HA 2504 know about added licenses ?

Or is it just a WLC with emty license ?

Hi guys,

I am in the same scenario as previous question. I am to buy one 2504 WLC with 50 APs license.

But I have no idea of the 2nd WLC (2504 model). What is the minimum AP license I have to buy for it?

Then I also need AIR-CT2504-HA-K9 license?

Thanks,

Florin.

Hi Florin, If You want to have 50 AP license with a HA me model then go for these: AIR-CT2504-50-K9 AIR-CT2504-HA-K9 How to change configure: https://rscciew.wordpress.com/2014/06/07/n1-high-availability-configuration-on-cisco-2504wlc/ Regards Don't forget to rate helpful post

7.5 is released however 2504 0nly supports n+1 ha and not AP SSO and Client SSO.

So you can use the HA sku and not have to buy additional licences for it? ..... But it doesn't give SSO?

Correct... 2504 just does N+1 HA from 7.5, whereas the bigger platforms do AP SSO and Client SSO.

2504 Does not have redundant port so it does not have a way to transfer cofig file and check status or the peer WLC this is the reason i guess it does not support AP SSO and client SSO.

and for HA-SKU unit license does not matter as they are designed to be backup devices and hence will allow Ap's to connect to its full capacity.

For 2504 it's 75 and 5508 it's 500.

For code 7.3 or below its 50 for 2504 a software limitation.

Just need a little direction please, could anyone tell me if N+1 is supported in 7.4.121 code using the 2504 HA sku WLC? I am finding some conflicting information on Cisco docs and forums. If not, what would be the most stable code to use that would support N+1 with the 2504 HA sku?

Hi britaintil,

No 7.4.121.0 do not support N+1 for 2500 series WLC.

It started supporting from 7.5 and above version but 7.5 version is deffered from cisco so you must have to go with 7.6.100.0 version to have N+1 on 2504 WLC.

Go with 2504-HA-K9 with 7.6 version.

Hai all,

I have a problem. What is the controller that can I use for 70 access points.

Please give a suitable controller.

2504 WLC Supports max 75 APs. So you can use this one.
