Cisco WLC 9800 HA Configuration - OnPrem + Cloud

Hi Team,

Greetings,

Just as the title suggested,

Can we configure the HA Configuration of WLC 9800 :

- Onprem -> as Secondary

- Cloud (AWS) -> as Primary

what type of HA that possible with that scenario?

You can only achieve N+1 redundancy because SSO is not supported on 9800-CL public cloud.

which means when Primary (OnCloud) disconnect, when All AP & Client "swingt" to secondary (OnPrem), it will need to "reconnect" from the beginning? the downtime would be longer ?

and when do configuration, it need to do on both device?

Yes, correct. Unlike HA-SSO, N+1 is not a seamless failover. Which means, your APs will drop off from Primary WLC --- Start discovery process again --- Will join the Secondary. Usually if everything goes smoothly (Considering the version/config is identical), you can expect within 3 mins all the APs should move to Secondary WLC. 

To answer your 2nd question, you can define Primary-base/Secondary-base inside the AP HA config - so that AP knows if Primary fails, where to go.
