If you search the forum, the number or rule if thumb is 25.  This is dependent on what applications you are using though. If its email and web traffic you can go as high as 40-60 per AP.  Streaming video will get you less than 25.  Since wireless is half duplex, you start out with have of the connected rate and then it drops to half for every user. So you need to determine how much bandwidth you want to guarantee users. The AP maxes at 200 clients, but that doesn't mean anything. Performance is what you have to look at and agin 25 is the full of thumb.

Hi,

which technology are you going to use..? 802.11n??

which type of applications are you going to use ..? voice/video/data ..?

You can use 50 to 60 users(including both radios) for the better throughput eventhough it supports 200 as per datasheet.

Cheers .. !

We have 3500 series access point and cisco 5508 WLC

and we are suing both a/n and b/gn

Can you please provide any cisco document which show the client information ?

Due to the Clean Air Technology the number of endpoints is 25 otherwise the AP maximum supports 200 clients.

So it depends if you are more concerned with the quantity of users supported or quality of service provided to each user.

Mohit,

So if you have CleanAir, the recommended is 25 devices per AP? What is the impact if you go over like 30? Is this documented anywhere by chance?
