Clients per AP guidelines

Does anyone know what the guidelines are for number of clients talking to one 1231 b/g AP? I know that a lot of it depends on traffic volume per client. However, I am trying to get some idea of a rough guess. I currently have 15 clients on one AP and I am wondering if this is too many? I am getting reports of many clients dropping off network in this area. However, I am getting that same report in other areas with only 3 clients per AP.

There is no specific guideline that talks about the number of clients that can associate with a AP. As you said it depends a lot on the traffic passing through the AP. But considering your scenario, 15 clients assocaited with a single AP should not be a problem at all. If you are getting packet drops with this setup that could be due to some other factors like radio frequency interference, or mulitipath distortion etc. For more information have a look at the following URL.
