Configure HA on Cat9800 in a DNA Fabric

We have a Catalyst 9800-40 WLC that is part of an SD-Access fabric running version 17.3.1.

I am trying to add a second controller for HA.

Do i need to remove the WLC from the fabric first, then apply the following commands?

ON THE EXISTING PRIMARY WLC
chassis redundancy ha-interface local-ip 10.0.0.25 /24 remote-ip 10.0.0.26
chassis 1 priority 2
chassis redundancy keep-alive timer 1
chassis redundancy keep-alive retries 5

ON THE NEW SECONDARY WLC
chassis redundancy ha-interface local-ip 10.0.0.26 /24 remote-ip 10.0.0.25
chassis 1 renumber 2
chassis 2 priority 1
chassis redundancy keep-alive timer 1
chassis redundancy keep-alive retries 5

taken from this config guide...

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/controller/9800/17-3/config-guide/b_wl_17_3_cg/m_vewlc_high_availability.html

Have i missed anything?

thanks

Colin

It depends on the DNAC version, if you have DNAC prior to 1.3 then yes you have to remove the WLC from fabric, configure the HA and re add to fabric, if you have DNAC version 1.3 or later then you can do it without the remove, check CSCvn24661: DNA Center: Cannot pair wireless controller HA if one of the WLCs is already part of a fabric

Thanks for the reply, we are running DNA Centre version 1.3.3.8

I have tried applying the above commands to both WLC's & then rebooted.

Connected thr RP interfaces together via a switch & now all is working
