Pls help me configure a Aironet 1310 which is configured as a root bridge and is connected to a wired LAN. The Linksys card is configured on a remote pc with a private IP in the same subnet as the local LAN.Can ping to the Aironet device through the local LAN.
The remote pc gets connected to the Aironet thru the SSID assigned and as well as with the 128 bit WEP key configured on the Aironet, but cannot ping to the Aironet device once connected. The link on the remote pc shows as a fair connection. The ping request shows request timed out. Pls find attached the Aironet config.
Pls help me find a solution.
thanks & regards

My best guess on this is that your WEP keys are not matching. When both devices are configured for WEP, but the WEP keys do not match, it is normal to have them associate but fail to pass any traffic.
1. Make sure you enter both keys in the same "slot." In other words, if the key on your AP is Key 1, you need to make sure the key on your client is also Key 1. Be aware that the Cisco keys are a numbered 1 through 4. Other vendors may number them 0 through 3.
2. Make sure your key matches. For testing, use a key that is easy to type correctly. Maybe something like 12345678901234567890123456.
3. Make sure they both use the same format (HEX or ASCII). If you enter the WEP key in HEX on one side, be sure that you are entering it in HEX on the other side.
4. In your config, it looks like you are using a migration mode for security. If you are just using WEP encryption, I would suggest just using encryption mode wep mandatory.

Thanks for your reply.
Tried the keys with all probabilities with no luck so far. The remote pc are with OS as Win2k Prof, read somewhere that this OS has no native support for WPA and 802.1x authentication without a minimum of SP3 and 802.1x patch..is that true? I have upgd the OS with SP4 and without any encryption it works well but as soon as I configure encryption it fails to connect to the network though it gets associated to the Aironet.
Also want to connect three more 1310 in the same setup, would like to know what station role should be defined for these three Aironets. If possible can you give a sample config for configuring these bridges which are not connected to the wired LAN and will communicate through the main Aironet mentioned earlier.
thanks & regards
