What is the difference between:
IOS XE Release: Cisco IOS XE Cupertino 17.7.1
and
IOS XE Release Build Number: 17.7.1.11
What does that "11" in the build number refer to and why do we see only "17.7.1" in Software Central?

- The build number is an internal subversion scheme for the particular train , meaning that all features (and bugs....) will refer to 'standard' 17.7.1 functionality as described in Release Notes for 17.7.1

17.7.1 is the IOS-XE software release. Specific components can have sub-version numbers.
For example EWC AP running software version 17.7.1 "show install summary" shows image version 17.07.01.0.82 with AP image version 17.7.1.11.
9800-80 running 17.6.2 "show install summary" shows image version 17.06.02.0.2786 with APs running image 17.6.2.43
If you install an AP service pack that would bump up the version number on the AP image without changing the WLC image version.
And if you install a SMU that could change the WLC image version.
For the version numbers in each release see: https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/compatibility/matrix/compatibility-matrix.html#ctr-ap_support
