DNA subscription for Cat9K APs

Hi, 

The Cisco Wireless ordering guide states:

Cisco DNA License are required when using APs with the Catalyst 9800 Series Controllers and Cisco DNA Center (On-Prem). Select your required Cisco DNA license and subscription duration from the following licensing tier options:

●     Essentials (-E) - AIR-DNA-E

●     Advantage (-A) - AIR-DNA-A

However, there is an opt-out SKU item available for the APs. 

Is this for when an AP is used standalone, and not attached to a Controller?

Officially, the OPT-OUT SKU is only used for APs supported by the AireOS (5520/8540/3504 or 2504/5508/WiSM2).

Thanks, however, in CCW the opt-out is available for Cat9K APs too. And it actually works if you select it, the estimate is accepted.

Hence my question.

Of course they will work because all Catalyst 9k are supported in AireOS 8.10.X.X.

Agree with Leo, in some bundles, you can get the licenses with the controller (9800) itself, in that case also you can choose opt-out when buying APs.

Hi,

OPTOUT can be used only in below scenarios;

1. When you order AIR-DNA licenses with the WLC itself or you have enough licenses in your smart account.

2. When you plan to join this AP for AireOS WLC’s and AireOS WLC’s already have licenses or you purchase AP adder license separately 

3. EWC (not fabric) doesn’t require any DNA subscription.

4. AP’s ordered as spares purely for advance replacements

● Advantage (-A) - AIR-DNA-A
When ordering the EWC on Catalyst 9100, one of the following Cisco DNA options must be selected in 3-year, 5-year, or 7-year subscription terms:
