Our customer has several 1852 indoor APs powered by power injectors. Recently a few of them stopped working. Inspection shows that there were burnt marks on the boards near the AP's power supply circuit.

We are wondering what could have happened. Can a lightning surge cause this?

Should the injectors be connected to a UPS?

Do you have any suggestions?

Should the injectors be connected to a UPS? Any equipment which needs to be protected should be on UPS unless it is rated to withstand power surges like that (which most equipment is not).
