Hi jianhua,
Dan is most correct here (5 points for your good work Dan!) I just thought that I would add this info for your TAC case. It may speed things up a bit.
CSCsd52483
Controller stuck at grub> prompt
Symptom:
A WLC2006, WLC2106 or NM-AIR-WLC6 may seen to display a "grub>" prompt on the console port. It will be unable to boot the
WLC software and will not be able to operate normally.
Workaround:
Replace the hardware.
Hope this helps! And best of luck.

Some very good new for everyone who has experienced this very frustrating error. I have found a resolution to this problem (well it fixed my issue, which certainly seems extremely similar to this one)...
Type what you see following the Grub command prompt...
Symptom:
A WLC526, WLC2006, WLC2106 or NM-AIR-WLC6 may seen to display a
"grub>" prompt on the console port. It will be unable to boot the
WLC software and will not be able to operate normally.
Workaround:
For AIR-WLC526 / AIR-WLC2006 / AIR-WLC2106:
From the grub prompt use the following commands to boot primary image
grub> root (hd0,1)
grub> kernel /bzImage-primary root=/dev/ram ramdisk_size=32768 printk=yes
console=ttyS0,9600
grub> initrd (hd0,1)/initrd-primary
grub> boot
From the grub prompt use the following commands to boot secondary image
grub> root (hd0,1)
grub> kernel /bzImage-secondary root=/dev/ram ramdisk_size=32768 printk=yes console=ttyS0,9600
grub> initrd (hd0,1)/initrd-secondary
grub> boot
Then TFTP download an official version of WLC code, to install a bootloader
for the WLC.
This was the fix that I have been searching for - I hope it works for you too.

Hi guys,
I have the same problem, but the grub does not see (hd0, 1), it can only see (hd0), and when I enter there, and use the kernel command, then the grub gives this error message:
"Error 17: Cannot mount selected partition"
grub cannot do some of the commands, in the help items, there are many options, but in order to do that it needs to mount the kernel.
Any ideas is appreciated.

Hi Amir,
1. No spaces in the "(hd0, 1)";
2. If all else fails, raise a Cisco TAC.

This is what I get:
grub> root (hd0,1)
Error 5: Partition table invalid or corrupt

I know someone who had this issue. She took the cover off the controller and saw the compact flash module. It wasn't seated properly, so she pulled it out and put it back in and closed the unit up.... and it booted.

Hello,
When I put this sentence:
initrd (hd0,1)/initrd-primary
I get the following error:
Error 15: File not found
If I try to boot the secondary image, it starts but I got an error that can not create some files because the system is Read-only.
Any ideas?

Raise a Cisco TAC to get your appliance RMA-ed.

Fixed by opening unit and reseating flash!!!
