How to configure Stand By WLC.

Hi

In our project already one controller and 90 access points are configured but client want to install stand by WLC.

what configuration is to done on both Active wlc and stand by wlc.

it depends on what you have license and code wise.

If you are running 7.4 and your new WLC is 50 licenses or the HA-SKU you coudl configure AP-SSO

If you are not wanting to go that route, then you need to configure the new WLC exactly the same as the original, with the exception of the IP addresses on each dynamic interface.

Then you add them to the same mobility group.

the difference is, with AP-SSO, it is a true master/slave db.   You change the master and it gets pushed to the slave.

otherwise, if you make changes to one, you need to make changes to the other as well. 

Cisco PI, can help with that by allowing you to push templates to each WLC.

Thanks for your reply.both controller supports licences already actvie one is configured just how to configure standby

what configuration we have done on both controller. and one access point want to  firmware upgrade .how to upgrade

If you are running 7.3 version then .

I dont know in whcih manner u r saying standby:

is it a normal secondary controller or ?

r u using HA(AP SSO) or ?

Thanks for your reply.this is information i got from my team  i am beginner in wireless please advice yhe solution

already one controller is running with code version 7.3 with active controller now they standy by controller for redunacy

Check the release notes for the code you want to upgrade to. The release notes will tell you how to upgrade to that code from the code you are on.
