How to programmatically access Probe request (802.11) on the wireless router or access point

Hello,

We have Syslink and Cisco Access points(different models) in our building. I want to read all the probe requests on APs from my application.

Not sure I understand it seems like you want to see probes on your device ? Meaning when your device sends probes ?

You can use a frame capture utility and filter on your device MAC address.

Thanks George Stefanick

What I want is to read all the probe request frames that an access point has received from the wifi clients . it is an active scan mechanism. I want to capture all the probe packet on access points.

Hello mohammedqaid2003, any success in finding solution to your issue?

In such case, thank you for sharing!

Hi!

Did you find a solution to this problem?

We have the same need and would appreciate if you could share your solution!

Thank you very much!

Ejin,

You can passively use wireless sniffing tools to packet capture on probes and decode if that's what you are looking for? There are some free tools to start with like WiFi Explorer which is awesome (Mac only):

Alternatively MacOS actually has a pretty decent in-built WiFi scanner and packet capture system for troubleshooting.

What are you trying to achieve?
