Hello,
Can someone please help me in guiding out as to how do we install the SAP1602E without using the controllers as all the install guides are talking about controller based installations but my whole purpose of going with SAP unit was to do standalone installs and then bridge 2 AP that I bought.
Thanks in Advance.

The APs you have are already running in Automous IOS (product name is SAP for Standalone AP).
So all you need is to configure Wireless Bridges Point-to-Point.

Hi Nav
Here is a link to the 1600. Click on config guide .. If you never configured an autonomous ap follow the guide carefully. stop back if you have questions ..

Hello,
would it be instructions for 2600 AP?
because 1600 is not listed in 12.4.25 guide
thanks,

The 1600 you would need v15... There is no support for them in the v12.x. Configuration will be almost identical.

Hello Nav,
As per your query i can suggest you the following solution-
This section describes how to connect the access point to a wireless LAN controller. Because the
configuration process takes place on the controller, see the Cisco Wireless LAN Controller
Configuration Guide for additional information. This guide is available on Cisco.com.
Installation Summary
Installing the access point involves these operations:
• Performing a pre-installation configuration (optional)
• Mounting the access point
• Grounding the access point
• Deploying the access point on the wireless network
For more information refer to the link-
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/access_point/1600/quick/guide/ap1600getstart.pdf
Hope this will help you.

Thanks for the above Post its really helpful
how we can change the mode from SAP to bridge and back on Cisco 1600 series AP's

Hi Ravindra,
"station-role root bridge" & "station-role non-root bridge" under radio interface make the normal AP into root bridge & non-root bridge.
If you configure it back as "station role root" put it back to normal mode.
Here is a conlfig example for "Wireless Bridge with EAP-FAST" that should hep you to do the full configuration.

Thanks Rasik for your response.
We want the above Product to function as an Access Point and not as a Bridge.
So please confirm if the above product can function that way
also if possible provide us with a configuration example of the same.
Your response is highly appreciated.

Thanks Rasik,
But the link is telling me about 1200 series, what i need to know is if 1600 series can function as a Access Point as well or not.
If Yes, can you give us the config of it, where it says to choose between options of selecting bridge root, non-root or access point

Hi,
Configuration pretty much remain same irrespective of the AP model. Here is a simplest configuration you can do if it is for single SSID
hostname
!
dot11 ssid
authentication open
authentication key-management wpa version 2
guest-mode
wpa-psk ascii
!
interface Dot11Radio0
encryption mode ciphers aes-ccm
ssid
no shutdown
!
interface Dot11Radio1
encryption mode ciphers aes-ccm
ssid
no shutdown
!
interface BVI1
ip address dhcp
If you want multiple SSID, then refer the previous thread, as it has given an example for that as well
