Intracontroller L3 roaming

Hi all!

I have interesting question, and i cant find answer in google)

Case: have one controller (5520 for exmpl) and have 2 AP , one AP1 in first APGroup and attached for vlanX(with dhcp srv in vlanX) and one AP2 in second APGroup and attached for vlanY(with dhcp srv in vlanY). User device moved from AP1 area to AP2 area ...and what occur in this situation?  Still in vlanX and old IP address or will have new ip address?  And what if device move again to AP1?

Thanks!

SSID the same.

Same address, the controller will anchor the device traffic back to the originating controller for AP1. When the device roams backs, the anchor is not used and traffic is bridged back to the origination controller.

Search for “Cisco wlc L3 roaming” you will find information regarding the various types of roaming.

thanks Skott!

I undestand L3 roaming when we have two or more WLC. But i ask about L3 in ONE wlc. One WLC and different vlan interfaces.

The controller handles everything. L3 roaming on the same controller and another controller is similar. If you can see from the documentations, client keeps the same ip.
