IOS-XE tracelog location before archiving

Hi wireless professionals,

quick question: Where are the IOS-XE process logs stored (e.g. for the wncd process)?

I know, that there is a folder in the flash (bootflash:/tracelogs), however on my system it looks like there are only the archived (compressed) files with a tar.gz file extension.

What I'm interested in where the logs are stored BEFORE they are logrotated.

Anywhere on the flash or just in memory?

Guess I found it out myself.

The files are always stored on bootflash / harddrive in an binary format (archived). The corresponding show commands like "show logging process ..." or "show logging profile ..." will extract and decode these files on the fly.
