Limitations of default H-RREAP group

According to the Cisco WLC Configuration Guide, h-reap groups are limited to 25 APs per group. So what happens, when I set the 26th AP on my controller to h-reap mode without having created any h-reap groups before. Is the default group limited to 25 APs, too? Did anyone tried this before?

As far as I'm aware, if an AP is not defined in an HREAP Group, then its not part of a group.....  as in there is no concept of a functional "default" group.

If your APs are not in a group, everything will still function. You just lose backup AAA Configuration and inability for fast roaming between APs (since the keys are distributed between the members of a group).

I'm sure there are other features that a group is required for, but basic wireless connectivity is not dependent on an HREAP Group.

How many APs are you looking to put in a group?

I'm planning a typical store scenario with a corporate wide centrally switched "office" wlan and a locally switched WPA2 PSK "barcode scanner" wlan. For this functionality I do not need h-reap groups at all, because the 2-3 store APs are in the same subnet. So if there is nothing like a "default h-reap group", I'm fine.

Do you agree?

If "fast roaming" is not a requirement, then your basic functionality is there without groups.

I assume that other advantages to an HREAP Group are documented somewhere, I just don't have it in front of me.
