My main AP is a BEFW11S4, I setup a Aironet 1100 (12.2(4)JA with the same ssid, station-role repeater, parent 1 mac x, however the LED on the 1100 is flashing rapidly.
show dot11 association doesn't show the parent ap or any association.
Any ideas? Will it repeat for the Linksys?
If your laptop is talking to a repeater, what mac will the ACU indicate is the AP? The AP or the repeater? Are you associating to the repeater or the AP behind it?

Does the interface bvi1 work if the Ethernet is disconnected?
Since the Ethernet interface isn't connected on the 1100, should I put a ip address on interface dot11radio0 to manage the repeater remotely?

In repeater mode, the AP1100 brings down the fastethernet interface if the AP1100 associates to an AP. The BVI should be up, and you should manage the repeater through the wireless link. You should not configure an IP address on the dot11radio 0.
To troubleshoot your problem, please enable the following debug in a telnet session to the AP:
debug dot dot 0 trace print xmt rcv
The debug is saved in the system log, which can be retrieved by command show log. Alternatively, you can enter "term mon" in your telnet session. The debug messages will be printed on your telnet session.

When connected via a repeater what will the Aironet client report under "Assoicated AP is xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx"?
A) The mac address of the station-role repeater.
B) The mac address of the station-role root.

Here is the debug/show run and log. I don't have any encryption, etc in the Linksys AP. Real basic config.

Please go to the following URL:
It says:
"Repeater access points running Cisco IOS software cannot associate to parent access points that that do not run Cisco IOS software."

This is it, thanks -jason
I wonder if Cisco will ever allow you to repeat any make/model AP ? I guess repeater extensions are proprietary.
I don't think the new Linksys WRT54G or WAP54G will repeat for anything but the same model.
