Hi,
Question is regarding:
* Cisco Catalyst 9800 -WLC
* Cisco Catalyst 9120 -AP
Is it possible to put an AP into a maintenance mode? I want to stop new clients to connect to an AP and make already connected clients to gracefully roam to the neighboring AP.

Options are:
Turn off the AP radio.
Assign the AP a policy tag with no SSID.

- The concept of maintenance mode as such does not exist on the 9800 platform + APs , you need to shutdown the AP ,

No
As the others have said you can shut down radios or remove SSIDs but all clients will be disconnected. To disable the AP (and shutdown the radios):
ap name <apname> shutdown

I haven't tested myself, but I'm told that starting in 2.3.7, individual APs can be placed in maintained mode:

@Preston Chilcote that just stops Catalyst Center from counting the AP in assurance stats but doesn't stop clients from connecting to the AP which is what the original request was for. Some products have "graceful shutdown" capability which stops new clients from joining but doesn't remove existing clients but Cisco APs are either up or down which removes all clients.
